[ Is it too late to duck out the front door, or. ]
...That's your best impression of him? [ ...she's gonna throw the book at him if he doesn't play along, isn't she, UH. HE DOESN'T WANT TO GET NEW GLASSES so throat clearing. Ahemhemhem. ] I mean--yes? It's been nice outside, and I got some nice deals at the market.
[ ...............welcome to smalltalkville, population: black ]
[.......... if this is what tsukiyama is presented with every time they talk white is surprised any amount of bonding gets done are you for fucking real]
I'm glad to hear that! My day has been fine as well, though I haven't found a book that has quite caught my interest yet... Perhaps you could suggest some to me?
[ LOOK, WHEN YOU ASK ABOUT SOMEONE'S DAY, YOU TYPICALLY DON'T GET THE MOST INTERESTING ANSWER.
A long pause, before Black motions White to walk with him so he can actually put these groceries up. ]
I've found The Peculiar Position of Dr. Jollin and Mr. Hode to be pretty good. [ It reminds him of a book from home! ] There's a couple penny dreadfuls Mr. Regnard's recommended me too--he's one of my superiors in the Enforcers, he's pretty nice--that you might like. Pirate's Booty, The Illustrious Esmeralda, The Opal... Esmeralda's on the supernatural side, and Pirate's a threeway romance between a woman, her first-mate, and the captain of the Navy or... something. I haven't read it myself. The Opal is a continuous collection of stories that gets published every month, though it's
[ um ]
a little on the... risque side, sometimes. There's perfectly fine stories in it too--I usually stick to those, and Mr. Regnard fills me in on everything else. [ Ahaha, at least there aren't any flowers popping up this time. He's. He's working on that not being a thing here. ]
I--I don't, Mr. Regnard does and he's always with me when we're on Enforcer business because he likes my company, and he talks about them all the time. [ SO............ ] The general stories are really nice.
[ ...he's never really had to take the lead on any conversations with Tsukiyama before, and really, he has no idea what to say that doesn't end up with him wanting to shove his foot in his mouth. ...like every conversation he has with him.
God, he really isn't suited to this. ]
...Jollin and Hode is a story about a man who wants to separate the good from the bad, so he makes a medicine to achieve that. It goes about as well as you expect it to--he retains his goodness and pure of heart, and he creates a second personality for himself--that's Hode. He doesn't care about anything or anyone except himself, and he starts to go on killing sprees just because he can. It's a story of monster and men, of good versus evil, of... losing control of yourself.
[ He glances at White, as if he's about to say something else, but he turns his gaze back to his work. ]
I won't spoil much else for you, but it's almost the exact same as Jekyll and Hyde from my world. Except with, well, emotion stuff. I think it's to warn people against the dangers of attempting to isolate just the good or just the bad and then getting rid of the other.
[The look'd made her feel uncomfortable and she shifts on her feet, trying not to think of the request she'd gotten and how the situation hasn't changed, how there's still a monster all its own inside her brother. Tsukiyama's always radiating positivity, so... she needs to try too, even if the warmth just feels fake.]
It certainly sounds interesting, Black-san, though I don't believe there's any harm in... focusing on the more positive side of life. Things that bring you down are simply to be avoided, non? Wouldn't you agree?
[... honestly she doesn't know if that's his opinion but it sure seems like it'd be with how goddamn positive he is. silver lining in everything he sees.]
Wouldn't you say that every experience is a good one, even if it makes you upset? It's important to keep upbeat, but that doesn't mean you should avoid every bad thing.

Now, now, Black-san, you wouldn't be so rude as to leave a date waiting, would you?
no subject
I don't have a date with my sister!
1/2

Then Mr. High Standards needs to let go of my hood, because he wouldn't just grab me like this!
no subject
You're not going to run away, are you?
no subject
No?
no subject
She's gonna drag him further inside.]
I feel like you need a serious confidence booster, so I'm going to pretend to be Tsukiyama and you're going to ask me out on a date. Got it?
no subject
Lean against it.
Wonder if God exists and conclude that no, probably not. ]
You really want to ask Silver out that badly?
no subject
you]
I-- am going to ask him out on my own time, thank you, because I know I can. At any time I want. Because I'm not a wuss like you.
[... She'll get around to it... And let go of his hood.]
So. What kind of scene do you want? On the street? In a bookstore?
no subject
... Are we really doing this, White?
no subject
no subject
Bookstore. [ ... ] Then we'd have something to talk about.
no subject
Great! Okay. Let me get back in character then.
[... And she's doing some flourishy hand motions, muttering random French words she knows are in the English language as well.]
no subject
cannot wait
to never fucking tell anyone about this, actually. ]
no subject
And yes. She's going to pitch her voice to do her best impression of Tsukiyama.]
Ah, bonjour, Black-san, has the day treated you well?

THIS WAY. WHY IS BLACK THIS WAY.]
I... see. They sound very intriguing, though I cannot say I expected you to be the type to read [the fuck would tsukiyama call this] intimate tales.
